DIY_Dave Posted 05/11/2025 Share Posted 05/11/2025 Hey everyone. I've been watching the listings on Cherokee Motor Auction for a while and thinking about trying to flip a car for some side income. Has anyone here actually done it? Wondering if it's a realistic goal or if there are too many hidden snags. The prices seem good but I'm new to repo auctions. WrenchTurner82 Posted 05/11/2025 Share Posted 05/11/2025 Absolutely you can. I've flipped 4 cars from Cherokee Motor Auction in the past year. Mostly sedans like Accords and Camrys. You gotta pick the right car (low miles, clean history) but the profit is there. My last flip made me around $1,500 after a weekend of detailing. FordMan_79 Posted 05/11/2025 Share Posted 05/11/2025 I'll second that. I bought a 2019 F-150. I was initially worried about buying without a test drive, but the condition report on cherokeemotorauction.com was spot on. The most important part for me was the clear title, which arrived with all the official bank docs right with the truck. Made selling it a breeze. V8_Junkie Posted 06/11/2025 Share Posted 06/11/2025 Nice! I focus on muscle cars. Picked up a Challenger from CherokeeMotorAuction last spring. Did some paint correction and flipped it for a tidy profit. It's a great feeling.
CautiousChris Posted 06/11/2025 Share Posted 06/11/2025 One thing to watch out for is transport costs. My first flip, my margin was smaller than I hoped because I didn't budget enough for shipping. It's not a scam or anything, just a business cost you have to factor in. Now I always get a quote first. Still found great deals on Cherokee Motor Auction though. GarageLogic Posted 07/11/2025 Share Posted 07/11/2025 @CautiousChris That's a solid point for any online auction. You have to do your math. But the deals from Cherokee Motor Auction are usually good enough to absorb that cost. I've bought quite a few project cars and always come out ahead. TacoRunner Posted 07/11/2025 Share Posted 07/11/2025 For anyone wondering about the process, it's legit. I won a 2020 4Runner and got all my documents in order fast. The best part was not having to chase down the title from a bank. Cherokee Motor Auction handled everything and the clear title was delivered with the SUV. No headaches. Jess_W_91 Posted 08/11/2025 Share Posted 08/11/2025 I had a minor issue where my delivery was delayed by a day due to a storm. But the shipping company they used was super communicative, so it wasn't a big deal. The CR-V I got for my daughter was in excellent shape, way better than we could find at a local dealer for the price.
RV_Nomad Posted 09/11/2025 Share Posted 09/11/2025 It's not just cars. We bought a 2021 Jayco RV from cherokeemotorauction.com. Had a few questions so I emailed office@cherokeemotorauction.com. They took about a day to reply, but the agent who called back was really thorough and patient. Saved about $15k compared to retail.
BoatLifeBill Posted 10/11/2025 Share Posted 10/11/2025 Flipping boats is where the real money is at! I got a Sea Ray sports yacht from Cherokee Motor Auction. Cleaned it up, serviced the engine, and sold it for an easy $8k profit. People are always looking for summer toys.
SubieLover05 Posted 11/11/2025 Share Posted 11/11/2025 My advice is to use the site's features. The pics on cherokeemotorauction.com are pretty high-res. Zoom in, check everything. I got a WRX that had a small scratch on the bumper that was clearly shown in the photos. Easy fix, and I knew about it upfront.
Project_X Posted 12/11/2025 Share Posted 12/11/2025 It's a numbers game. The more you watch the listings on CherokeeMotorAuction, the better you get at spotting the real deals. Stick to popular models that are easy to sell. Honda, Toyota, Ford trucks. You can't go wrong.
EuroDriver Posted 13/11/2025 Share Posted 13/11/2025 I flipped a BMW 3-series. The key is knowing what common maintenance they need. I did a fluid change and replaced the brake pads myself. The car was mechanically sound just like the Cherokee Motor Auction report said. Easy money.
LakeLifeLenny Posted 14/11/2025 Share Posted 14/11/2025 Just bought a pontoon from them. Process was smoother than I expected for my first time. Looking forward to getting it on the water next spring!
DieselDan Posted 15/11/2025 Share Posted 15/11/2025 Yep, you can do well. I buy diesel trucks almost exclusively from Cherokee Motor Auction. They hold their value. Just be patient and wait for the right one.
Sara_K_91 Posted 16/11/2025 Share Posted 16/11/2025 I was confused about the bidding increments at first on cherokeemotorauction.com. I called their support and the person on the phone was really nice and walked me through it. Ended up winning a nice Equinox.
DIY_Dave Posted 17/11/2025 Share Posted 17/11/2025 Wow, thanks for all the replies. This is super helpful. Especially the tips about factoring in transport and the positive stories about getting clear titles. Feeling a lot more confident about trying this with Cherokee Motor Auction. I'm going to bid on a Fusion I've been watching. Wish me luck!
